Getting Started

There are many ways to start learning to hoop. Regardless of your skill level or previous experience with Hoopdance, we are set up to keep you inspired and challenged as you move in your own circular path.

Gear Up

If you already own a hoop, you can use it for your practice as long as it is large and weighted. A hoop purchased from a toy store will not be the ideal dance partner for you, as it is simply not heavy enough with which to master the many levels of the Hoopnotica.

This being said, most experienced hoopers have at least one or two kid's hoops in their collection; they can be fun to do off-body, tossing, and body rolls with. Learn about the differences between the hoops we offer here

Hoopnotica makes many different hoops to fit the needs of your body and style. We recommend heavier hoops for beginners, as they are easier to maneuver and learn with. Choose a color pattern that appeals to you, at a price point that fits your budget.

After your hoop arrives, play with it! Be ready to experiment and explore this new movement with an open heart and an open mind.

Once you know what you're looking for, you can shop for hoops here.

Get Moving

If you like learning on your own, our DVD series is a perfect way to study at home. This series is an instructional program which mimics what you would learn in a class, and will support you with everything from basic waist hooping through advanced level movements. Get some girlfriends together and watch the chapters together; we have found that learning with friends is fun and keeps you motivated forward.

Connect

You will find many resources on YouTube and Facebook for learning new moves and connecting with hoopers in your area. You can also join our facebook group to learn and grow in a supportive community here:  My Hoop Journey.

We encourage you to learn and explore as much as you can, and share your successes! We love to see what you're working on, so share with us on Facebook and Instagram, or just send us a little message for encouragement, to humblebrag, or to ask about what your next steps might be.

We're so excited to be a part of your hooping journey - join us and let us be your resource for quality hoops and instruction.
